AGM & Greens Forum
There will be a Greens Forum on Friday 21st April at 6pm where our 'Director of Course Services' Steve Cram will outline the current and future planned maintenance & course developments. There will be an opportunity to quiz Steve after the presentation in a question and answer session.
This will be followed at 7pm by the AGM.
Course Report
Because the drainage system was installed in the greens about 25 years ago, the Rootzone above the drains has become compacted and does not allow water to reach the drains. To address this problem a new drainage system will be installed into all greens over the next two years. The intended plan is to do 4 greens this spring (we have started on the 10th), then 5 greens in the Autumn and the other 9 greens the following year. Although this will cause some disruption, the long-term benefits will be that the greens will firm up and dry out a lot quicker after heavy spells of rain.
Fairway mats are allowed anywhere on the course except hazards and are proving popular. They are easier to hit full shots and chip off. The main benefit is the protection of the course during the
Winter months and they will become compulsory to use off shortly mown areas next Autumn/Winter.
With the recent drier weather, some off the greens have been Verti drained to de-compact them at lower levels helping dry them out, this will encourage root growth when soil temperatures rise. The greens are now cut once a week as growth slowly picks up.

Competitions Update
The Winter Leagues are now finalised and the following tables show the final positions. There was a total of 480 entries in the Saturday League and the top 6 will receive the following prizes paid into their Competition Purses. (£31, £24, £17, £10, £10, £4)
There was a total of 61 entries in the Sunday League, the top 3 will receive the following paid into their Purses. ( £6, £4, £2)
There was a total of 393 entries in the Seniors Plummer Cup and the top 5 and equals will receive the following paid into their Purses. (£20, £16, £12, £8, £3, £3).

Our front nine is a beautiful woodland course so I am concerned that many of the trees that line the fairways are nearing the end of their productive life and was wondering if there was a plan to underplant with new trees to ensure that when they are removed the current nature and numbers are retained?
